2007 American Graphic Design Awards
Loyalty Marketing Firm Wins National Design Awards
10.01.2007
MINNEAPOLIS, MN
The Lacek Group, the Loyalty Marketing Practice of OgilvyOne Worldwide, is proud to announce two new graphic design award wins. The 2007 American Graphic Design Awards, presented by Graphic Design USA, recognized Lacek’s promotional work for Theatre de la Jeune Lune, as well as the design for Lacek’s 2006/2007 holiday card.
Jeune Lune
Lacek partnered with Theatre de la Jeune Lune to develop a promotional campaign designed to provoke consumers and motivate them to buy tickets to the company’s spring 2007 productions of Don Juan Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro. The campaign communicated to consumers at several touch points and included a direct mail piece, print ad, poster and email.
Reflecting the bold, passionate and exotic energy of Don Juan Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro, Lacek created a campaign that was sensual and hard-edged, using images and phrases designed to shock, intrigue and incite. Racy headlines that play on each production’s storyline, such as “THE GUY IS SO HUNG,” “THE KING’S TO BE HANGED,” “KILL THE KING” and “SELL YOUR SOUL,” are placed in a reverse juxtaposition causing consumers to take a second look and allowing both programs to be promoted in the same element.
Lacek’s campaign for Jeune Lune was one of more than 10,000 entries reviewed by Graphic Design USA. Congratulations to Lacek’s Jeune Lune creative team for this distinguished achievement.

Holiday Card
Keeping with Lacek holiday tradition, in 2006 the agency’s creative team developed a unique holiday card to send to clients, vendors and other business associates, wishing them a sweet holiday season and prosperous year ahead. Employing unusual creative techniques, Lacek’s 2006/2007 holiday card embraces a simpler view of the holidays and reminds readers – both in its design and copy – to slow down and enjoy life.
Two of the card’s most unique attributes are the application of rebus – a representation of words through pictures or symbols – and the use of letterpress printing. Rebus, a historical and eye-pleasing form of communication, visually supports the idea of slowing down and taking time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. While the letterpress technique, an old-fashioned form of printing now experiencing a revival, gives the card a classic look and feel, again lending itself to the idea of harkening back to simpler times. Everything about the piece, from its paper stock and card size to its design techniques and copy messages, is representative of finding truth, meaning and happiness in a hurried, modern holiday season.
Congratulations to Lacek’s creative team for this impressive award.
