Team Tuna Noodle takes the Cake

Fewer children will go to sleep hungry for weeks to come this year, thanks to the generous spirit of the people of The Lacek Group. In a remarkable effort made all the better (and a great deal more fun) because it also tapped a competitive nature, agency staff split into teams, established goals, and competed for team prizes during a summer food drive. The teams succeeded in collecting 4719 items and significant cash for the Second Harvest Heartland, the Upper Midwest’s largest hunger-relief organization.

Here’s how the donations stacked up:

Staff and visitors also contributed $155 in loose change over the course of the competition. The Lacek Group responded by donating $1,000 in recognition of the staff’s exceeding the goal of 4000 items—enough to feed a family of four for four months. For every $1 donated, Second Harvest distributes more than $9 worth of food, so the $1,155 amounts to an additional $10,395 worth of groceries for the region’s hungry families.

The food drive was fun for staff and a successful kick-off of the new tlg/tlc community involvement initiative.
