The Lacek Group Builds Homes and Cements Bonds

On May 14th, Lacek employees were not home sick, on vacation or in client meetings, but several of them spent the day away from the office. They were at a Minneapolis warehouse prepared to participate in some serious manual labor. Tools in hand, a dozen Lacek team members gathered together to help Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota build a home for a low-income family who otherwise would not be able to afford it.

“This event is very important for so many reasons,” said Bill Baker, President of The Lacek Group. “It provides our employees an opportunity to give back to the community, which feels good and is one of Lacek’s core values. At the same time, it is a great team-building experience.”

After the local Habitat affiliate team member provided an introduction, direction and tools, Lacek employees went to work building frames for the inside and outside walls of a house. After the wall frames were built, they were hauled to the building site.

“You get a great sense of satisfaction by doing something concrete to help someone less fortunate,” said Francesco Favazza, Senior Partner, Account Services, at The Lacek Group. “Giving money to charity is always good, but it’s nice to actually see the tangible results of your labor. And working together as a team is a great bonding exercise.”

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat house and houses for others.

The Lacek Group is a data- and behavior-driven direct marketing company specializing in the development, communication, and on-going management of customer loyalty programs.
